Recycle Reduce Reuse

The gradual increase in environmental pollution is a matter of concern in recent days. The recyclability of any discarded material depends on its ability to reacquire all the properties back to their original state. Recycling materials leads to reduces the content of greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, recycling saves enough energy to produce items from raw materials. Recycle is the main aspect of the term, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

There are some ISO standards related to the recycling of materials. For example, ISO 15270:2008 and ISO 14001:2015 is solely for plastic waste and environmental management control.

Recycling materials include glass, cardboard, metal, plastic, textile, and electronics. Additionally, biodegradable waste such as food and garden waste can be recycled as well. Recyclable materials are delivered to the household recycling centers or picked up from nearby curbside bins and are processed for new products.

Why Should One Recycle?

Recycling is important to prevent the piling up of landfills. To have a safer environment and a good quality of life, protecting our resources are of utmost importance. Recycling minimizes the piling up of garbage in landfills and incineration plants. Save energy and reduce the harmful impact of extracting and processing virgin materials. Moreover, recycling is economical.

Recycling supports a strong and diverse mode of economic development. This not only provides jobs and wages to states and certain localities but also secures the future of many people. A lot of recycling manufacturers depend on the constant supply of materials that are generated from various recycling programs.

Reduce: Reuse: Recycle – Ways To Recycling

  • Recycle Plastic

Plastic recycling is all about the reprocessing of plastic materials into new products.  These new products are beneficial for the environment as well as for humans. Plastic recycling leads to the minimization of garbage in landfills and incineration. There are 7 types of plastic that can be recycled. These are PP, PET, HDPE, PS, LDPE, and PVC. There are a few ways that can help you to recycle plastic:

  • Reuse plastic cups and containers as snack storage
  • Bottle planter
  • Soda Bottle Sprinkler
  • Bird feeder

  • Recycle Metal

Metal recycling is the process of taking discarded metal and recycling it into a new one. The discarded metal undergoes shredding. Then it is melted and cooled and formed new products. Aluminium, gold, steel, copper, brass, zinc, and silver can be recycled into newer products.

Ferrous metals are mostly recycled. Metal can be recycled without damaging the original properties hence it is easy and effective. Recycled metals are used mostly in building roads, tracks, and at times vehicles.

Junk metal recycling is a convenient way to recycle metal.

  •  Paper

Paper is 100% recyclable. Recycling paper is a good initiative to control environmental pollution.  Unused paper is converted to make cardboard, office papers, newsprints, labels, and gift cards. It is sustainable and environmentally friendly and therefore minimizes air pollution approximately by 75% and water pollution by 76%.

  • Glass

Glass requires crushing, and cleaning, before turning into molds. Recycled glasses can be of various colors and shapes and used as:

  • Bottle tree
  • Candle holders
  • Small terrarium
  • Vase
  • Canisters

Recycled glass also helps to minimize energy consumption and helps in water filtration. Moreover, recycled glass emanates only a few greenhouse gases, only 0.2 percent.

1.2 tonnes of raw materials make new glass items. However, 1 tonne of broken glass materials is enough to create new glass items.

Recycling glass can reduce pollution by 62% and landfill by 35%.

Benefits of Recycling

Recycling is always beneficial when it comes to reducing pollution. The factors associated with the concept of recycling are:

  1. Environmental benefit
  2. New jobs
  3. Raises awareness
  4. Reduces energy cost
How ECOS can help

Our team at ECOS or Environmental and Disaster Restoration believes in building a better environment. We have been serving homes in and around Colorado for years now. Our focus is deeper than only recycling waste products such as aluminum or paper. Recycling helps to create a better world and the minimization of pollution. This helps to reduce health hazards and other fatal factors that are responsible for spreading diseases and other health-associated factors.

We go beyond the traditional recycling process and facilitate the recovery of hard-to-recycle materials.
